  Tour Guide

  Volunteering for the 'encounterARC' organisation which sends volunteers throughout Europe to work as tour guides/welcomers in churches and cathedrals. My work in the church - 'Il Santuario della Consolata' consisted of giving multilingual tour guides to the public and welcoming them with any help that I could offer. I also assisted in the translation of documents into French and Spanish.Living abroad and in Italy for the first time without any previous knowledge of Italian was a huge challenge and steep learning curve. I was able to acquire skills in intercultural understanding and communication since my Italian was quite basic at first, and as a consequence my Italian as well as my confidence improved greatly due to the necessity to speak the language. I gained independence and adaptability in being able to live in a foreign country where I didn't speak the language fluently. Show less

Volunteers will help assist with arrivals & departures and provide the highest standard of customer service throughout the event period, supporting the Accommodation team as required.
