      Served as a Natural Resource Specialist/Forestry Technician for various trail/timber/fire crews throughout the western United States. Duties included working in forest plots to count and map timber, planting trees to re-vegetate plots, and implementing prescribed burn projects associated with slash from timber practices. Additionally, built and maintained trails in wilderness areas, suppressed wildland fires, conducted forest ecology classification and tree identification, GPS mapping, and worked to restore reaches of various watersheds in habitat restoration projects. Wrote several grant applications (lead or co-author) to Southern California Wetlands Recovery Program, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and have been awarded over $900K in funds to restore degraded streams in the Ventura River Watershed. Over 200 volunteers have joined the effort and the committee is growing.
