  Throughout my two weeks working in Croatia with I Love Tour I was responsible for looking after and organising 1,500 students. I worked alongside a team of 4-8 people, on a daily basis we had to document incidents and provide support to students. I also had to communicate with students to collect costs for any damage caused each day within the resort. The job required myself to provide students with large amounts of information on a daily basis.

  In July 2017 I took part in a three-month placement with Restless Development in South Africa. Whilst on placement I was working with South African volunteers to teach in schools and clinics about issues rural communities were facing, these included: Livelihoods, life skills, gender based violence and sexual and reproductive health. I’ve learnt:• How to live and work with people from different cultures• Developed my confidence, specially teaching and standing in front of a classroom of around 60 children, even when they challenged me with their behaviour. • My ability to interact with a variety of people in a different environment has immensely improved by delivering sessions effectively. I started to think about aspects in my own culture that I take for granted and how much my upbringing and environment can influence my behaviour and attitudes. • I’ve learnt to respect different views and opinions, not trying to force my opinion on others and change their views, its imperative to respect everyone’s differences.
