  The Supervisor, Projects is responsible for project management and supervision support for Sustaining Capital Projects. It includes preparation of project status reports, project cost estimates, schedules, materials management, bid analysis, QC plans and ensuring safe and effective project execution. This role is also responsible for effective coordination of engineers, consultants, clients, contractors, purchasers, suppliers and senior management within the Sustaining Capital Projects Group.• Supervise and provide direction to contractors• Ensure the safety of the workplaces• Actively participate in the audit of contractor’s safety process and standard operating procedures• Participate in and lead risk assessments and actively manage the risks of the projects and the business• Prepare project CEA’s, budgets and schedules • Conduct reviews of detailed design drawing and specifications. Ensure engineering meets Diavik/Rio Tinto standards and specifications and the Mines Act.• Coordinate with Surface and Underground Mining, Asset Management and Strategic Development to provide properly scoped projects in a coordinated manner• Issue procurement documents• Prepare project estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules and execution plans.• Coordinate between engineering, construction, HSE, procurement and finance.• Assist with project QA/QC systems and documentation.• Monitor project progress against budget and forecasted schedule• Prepare and submit reports on the progress and status of projects • Maintain effective and on-going communications with the construction management team and contractor concerning issues and challenges• Provide input during the review of contractor progress payments and claims process• Implement project commissioning and turn over.
