  The position of Battalion Chief plans, organizes, directs, and controls the operations and activities of an assigned battalion area, including multiple fire stations. The position is a key leadership (Command) component of an emergency team responsible for directing fire/rescue crews at all incidents, including but not limited to: fires, hazardous material incidents, emergency medical response and rescue operations; supervising special operations and other routine assignments of an non-emergency nature; ensuring the accurate and complete documentation of all assigned activities, and performing related administrative, supervisory and technical work as required. This highly responsible management position works independently, effectively collaborating with other command staff, and provides timely reports through periodic meetings, briefings, operational critiques, or written reports.
