I skied hard, played hard, and studied hard. I hope I helped put a little bit of the free-spirited, out-of-the-box, ways into the hearts of my engineering friends and associates.

    • Auburn equestrian center / stage stop ranch

      Jun 1999 - Dec 2003
      Founder

Founder of Placer County's premiere equestrian facility. Concept to completion, and operation and development of programs. Stage Stop Ranch continues to operate, and further the legacy I began. The ranch is still one of the leading equestrian facilities in the equestrian-rich surrounds of Placer County, California. One of the reasons for the ranch's great success was due to the fact that at a time when such businesses were primarilly using only print media to market themselves, I produced a full-blown web site and personally pursued search engine optimization efforts so that the web-surfing, equestrian public found Stage Stop Ranch before any other when they wanted any related services in Auburn, CA. I designed and implemented construction of the stable facilities and the home; planned and produced the marketing; developed all online marketing outreach projects; developed and managed the equestrian riding academy; trained riding instructors; and oversaw the ordering and use of supplies.Created and taught special interest training events, such as emergency response training for large animal handlers (Placer County CVMA); Horsemanship Badge Training (Girl Scounts); Natural Horsemanship (introductory basic workshops); Young Rider programs for toddler to 4 year-old ages (parent/child partner classes). • Caltrans

      Sept 2000 - Mar 2003

My job included field engineer duties in both road construction and bridge construction. My projects included the Gold Run Rehabilitation project which was a freeway re-habilitiation project encompassing approximately 12 miles of Interstate 80 in the Sierra Nevadas, from Gold Run to Emigrant Gap.Later, I spent time as a structures rep, (which is essentially the engineer in the field) working on the replacement of approximately 12 bridges along Interstate 80 in Truckee, CA. This work included empirical derivation of design information such as finish elevations for various components of each bridge as it was constructed. Much of the work was in extreme conditions such as varying temperatures and work on girders over the Truckee River. Show less My work at CalTrans also included representing the State in the Inter-Agency Pre-Pass program, which is a program designed to aid the trucking industry in saving time at weigh stations throughout the US by utilizing transceivers inside cabs of approved trucks. The transceivers emit a signal to the station in advance of the trucks' arrival at the station. If the truck has a history of compliance with weight regulations, the truck is cleared to pass the station without stopping. The inter-agency program included representatives from CalTrans, California Highway Patrol, Board of Equalization, Department of Motor Vehicles, Federal Highways Association, and national trucking industry representatives. • Limousine foreclosure tours: the gold rush group

      Jul 2007 - Sept 2009
      Owner/founder

Created the first-ever "Limousine Forclosure Tour" service, a concept that was almost immediately discovered by the media. Once word spread on API, my business partner and I became the focus of media attention across the country. The upshot of the brainstorm was that our real estate team continued to conduct the limo tours for about two years, although the wave was really the first six months. The concept was a marketing grab--at that particular moment in time, all the world was fascinated by foreclosures and few consumers had even yet heard the term 'REO.' We were targeting the buyer market, and it worked. We never expected the icing on the cake, which was that we were quoted, interviewed, and featured in more magazines, radio shows, newspapers, TV spots, and newscasts than I can even list. For approximately eight months, we were contacted for advice by Realtors all around the country about how to do the same. Some of the more notable of the list include USA Today, Comstocks, and The Business Journal. I count this in my resume because I excel in marketing. My credentials do not list a marketing degree. Still, I know how to "fill a pipeline," as they say. Show less
