  If you had a once in a lifetime opportunity to live out your bucket list, would you take it? I made a plan to take time away from my career, travel across three countries and spend time in nature. For six months, I car camped, and backcountry hiked in the most beautiful national parks that the United States and Canada have to offer.From there, I was based in New Zealand and spent time mountain biking through Wellington’s great tracks, hiking through native bush and canoeing in the Wanganui River. In addition, I volunteered with the canine team at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The highlight of my New Zealand experience was serving as a farm hand on the Dunvegan Sheep Farm in Wanganui, where I focused on caring for the lambs.My sabbatical has given me a deeper appreciation for nature, confidence in taking risks, survival skills, physical strength and a strong self-care routine.
