Older counselor would train and help to guide other staff members throughout the summer.

      Student advisors on the Student Advisory Committee to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSAC) provide counsel to Vice Chancellor Harry Le Grande concerning the quality of student life and the co-curricular experience. Responsibilities of an undergraduate researcher in the glass lab include testing genetic mutants created to ensure that the correct genetic transformations have occurred through PCR and luciferase testing; collecting ascospores, checking fungal mating types, and isolating homogeneous mutant colonies. Student coordinators plan and lead all student orientation programs on the Cal campus during the summer semester; hire and train the group of roughly 40 orientation leaders; foster team dynamics to create an area for personal and collaborative growth with both orientation leaders and coordinators; and develop a network of on campus partners for New Student Services (NSS).
