  This is a small gourmet restaurant with guest rooms awarded a Michelin & four star AA rating. It has a high reputation regionally and has featured in the Saturday Telegraph Travel section. After training I eventually helped the owners to run a small team of staff in the restaurant. I was also trained to work behind the bar serving drinks. This enabled me to communicate further with customers.

  Student work experiance

  My two weeks work experience at Mervyn Rose Engineering Ltd saw me gaining hands on experience in an engineering environment. The company specialized in the manufacture, fabrication and erection of steel framed structures.My roles included site visits to observe how pre-fabricated steel was erected into the final structure and practical work on the factory floor welding and cutting steel. I was taught a range of skills from puncturing steel to welding.I found my time here extremely enjoyable and this is where my interest in Civil Engineering accelerated. Show less

  Work experiance

  Augusta is a helicopter engineering firm which has established itself as one of the world’s leading manufacturers in developing helicopter’s for various uses, from civil to military use. My attachment was focussed in the loom shop. Here I gained an insight into how the most intricate and delicate electrical systems of an aircraft are connected using conduits and circuits.This experience let me recognize that all parts of a company must be fully on task paying maximum attention to the detail in order for the final product to be safe and matched exactly to the specification. Seeing this has taught me valuable lessons in how a business functions and the processes to achieve maximum output and profit. Show less
