  At Children's Hospital, volunteers assist with a variety of unique services. Some of these services include escorting patients and their families to their appointments and answering any questions they may have. Other services include working directly with patients by assisting with playtime in waiting rooms, distributing toys, and reading to children.

As a mentor, my role consists of supporting and guiding newly transferred undergraduate students. I provide students with access to resources UCLA has to offer and assist with any questions, interests, or concerns mentees may have.   I have recently been promoted to Clinical Research Associate at Lawrenson Lab in Cedars-Sinai. In this new role, I will increase time visiting patients in pre-op, conducting chart reviews for data collection, and attending lab meetings. Additionally, I will assist with general laboratory activities, including maintenance of study specimens and related records, filing and monitoring documents, and keeping accurate and detailed descriptions of experimental files and results. Recently, I have had the opportunity to present various exciting topics, including how virtual reality (VR) can help patients manage chronic pain and whether excision or ablation is more effective for reducing endometriosis symptoms. I also had my first OR experience and observed an oophorectomy and trachelectomy. I am grateful for this experience as I continue to enhance my enthusiasm for research and women's health, two topics I hope to pursue as a future physician. Gaining an understanding of the procedures of clinical research, including practicing data abstraction and learning about the project design. Through shadowing and observation of research activities, I will learn to develop and apply technical skills in the laboratory and continue to acquire knowledge about the surgical procedures and anatomy of endometriosis and ovarian cancer.   Blood Donor Ambassador

  Engaging with a variety of blood donors across many age groups by greeting, registering, checking in, providing information, and support to guests. As donors arrive to the blood drive, my job is to check them in and guide them through the donation process. Volunteers provide comfort to donors by ensuring they are hydrated and replenished following the donation process. They are also observed to watch for any possible adverse reactions. We ensure donors are shown appreciation for their contribution and make the donation experience as pleasant and positive as possible by providing personalized and interactive customer care.   UCLA Pre-Med Mentor

  Currently mentoring UCLA pre-med students by serving as a medium to discuss personal, academic, or career goals. Through meetings and sharing resources, I help pre-med students access resources and network to help navigate through their academic path and better prepare them to enter the healthcare field. I meet with my mentees biweekly throughout the quarter via Zoom and in person, discussing any matters. Additionally, I report bi-weekly check-in forms to the pre-med committee, reporting meeting hours and mentioning topics of discussion. Show less
