  Improving legacy IT systems so our staff can deliver environmental outcomes faster, cheaper and more efficiently. Business strategy, planning and reporting for a business unit within Environment Agency. Temporary project role, supporting the roll-out of new software and hardware to enable thousands of staff to work smarter in offices, when mobile or at home, and in a blended work setting. Also reviewing future of Environment Agency intranet platform. Strategic planning and resourcing for future business change and improvement. Implementing 'smart working' across Defra group, so we can maximise the use of our estate whilst giving flexible working options to our staff in and out of the office. Co-ordinating improvement and change initiatives to make the department more efficient, and embed new ways of working through training and support. Responsible for smooth transition of web content and online services from separate domain to government website. Resulted in no significant change in enquiries or complaints from staff or customers, despite tens of thousands of pages archived, re-written and re-directed. Risk-based auditing. Responsible for the Environment Agency's registrations and to ISO9001, ISO14001 and EMAS. Involved procuring and managing UKAS certified auditors, planning audit programme and dealing with non-conformities. Also managed the team publishing internal and external guidance and instructions using 'Information Mapping' methodology to structure clear documentation. Responsible for setting up permitting services and processing simple permissions (water resources, waste carriers, water quality, waste). Co-ordinated groundwater regulation permits. Maintained public registers and dealt with visitors inspecting files.
