      Dec 2020 - Jul 2021

I transferred to the youth opportunities team within the BSL's research and policy centre after my internship, to support the 'Community Investment Committee (CIC)' programme. Used by the National Youth Employment Body, the programme develops community-led solutions to youth unemployment by bringing together key local stakeholders to create and strengthen pathways that support young people into meaningful jobs. The role involved the development of 'Labour Market Scans', tailor-made reports presented to a diverse range of CICs and stakeholders across Australia (employers, employment service providers, government, and community organisations). The reports required data on local unemployment, industry, infrastructure, education and other markers of structural disadvantage. Show less

      Oct 2021 - May 2023
      Policy Officer

Most recently I worked within the bi-national team (Australia and New Zealand) of the RANZCP's Policy, Practice and Research Department. The RANZCP is principal organisation representing the medical specialty of Psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand. It supports clinical practice, advocates for people affected by mental illness and advises governments on mental health care. The role involved the continual analysis of government policy and emerging issues relevant to psychiatric practice and mental health. Central to this was routine consultation with RANZCP members and committees, consisting of psychiatrists across specialties and community members with a lived experience of mental illness. These efforts led to the development of responses and submissions to various governments and organisations concerning a range of topics, and the dissemination of such advocacy through the media.
