I work in partnership with students and staff across the Faculty and University to improve student experience and engagement. Please see some example tasks and projects below:I oversee taught-student communications for the Faculty and have developed a schedule to help students get the information they need through a range of mediums to maximise engagement. I have also worked with senior Faculty staff on communication strategies in challenging and sensitive circumstances.I was the first chair of the cross-Faculty Welcome Week Working Group in the University's new Faculty structure and took the lead on our Faculty’s Welcome Week strategy by drafting and finalising a guiding principles document and chairing discussions involving senior staff.I coordinate the Student Rep System for two of our Schools in the Faculty working closely with Student Reps and Academic Engagement Partners to bring about positive change.I have often proactively used my Excel and data analysis skills in large-scale projects. For example, as part of leading Faculty’s Student Retention and Progression Project, I obtained raw assessment data from our Planning & Strategic Projects Unit and produced categorised lists of students and in-depth reports which enable comprehensive interventions to be made. This project has been cited as having a significant positive financial impact for the Faculty and is being used as an example of best practice across the University.Working with a range of colleagues, I introduced a Welsh Translation Intern scheme which enabled us as a wider team to comply with Welsh Language Standards where we previously struggled. As part of the University’s recent financial sustainability programme, our student experience budget for the upcoming financial year was significantly reduced. I took the initiative in developing a system to efficiently track our spending against targets whilst also allowing us to reallocate funds flexibly in response to changing needs. Show less The team provided frontline pastoral and administrative support to our students. I maintained an ongoing portfolio of student cases, many of which were of a sensitive and complex nature and required effective crisis management. Some of my responsibilities included Engagement Monitoring Lead, Student Engagement Lead, Deputy Safeguarding Officer and Course Transfer Lead. I coordinated academic support schemes including: Exam Performance Interviews, an Early Intervention Scheme, Exam Success Workshops and ‘Making the Most of Your Repeat Year’.Using my Excel VBA skills, I re-developed the College’s Module Mark Sheet to eliminate common errors in transferring marks onto the Exam System. A version of this sheet is still in use several years after having left the role.My student engagement tasks involved developing student webpages, managing the College’s Unitu boards, and coordinating our Student-Staff Forums, Peer Mentoring Scheme and Postgraduate Research Student Rep Meetings.
