  During my week's work experience at Art for Guernsey I had the opportunity to help set up Paul Chambers - Catching Light and Time exhibition https://artforguernsey.com/event/paul-chambers-catching-light-and-time-in-the-shadows-of-renoir/ as well as a local cultural enrichment program where the year 3's of the Island each created a pastel drawing that we printed onto ceramic tiles. https://artforguernsey.com/event/cultural-enrichment-project/ . Both of these exhibits were in response to the Renoir In Guernsey 1883 exhibition set to take place later this month in a neighbouring gallery.I found this week to be very hands on and enjoyed experiencing the wide range of tasks involved in curating an exhibition space; including, planning, printing and preparing of the art works and fixing and hanging in the gallery space. There was also an opening night celebration which was a lovely way to bring together everyones hard work. I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with Paul about his photographic process and his experiences becoming an established photographer and exhibiting in Giverny at 53. It showed me that everyone is working at different paces and having different life experiences, which was a lovely insight as it can be easy to feel behind.I also experienced some of the day to day gallery tasks, such as, packaging art works to be sent to customers, de-installing exhibition spaces and general maintenance and cleaning of the space. I am grateful to have this opportunity as I feel it is very difficult to get this sort of close up experience in London. It was a very personal experience and I am grateful for feeling so welcomed by everyone who works at the Gallery. I hope to see everyone again soon. Show less
