  In the lab of Dr. Shawn Mansfield I researched poplar genes potentially involved in senescence for use in phosphorus phytoremediation. To achieve our goal of cloning a rice phosphate transporter into poplar, I performed PCR, gel electrophoresis, RNA and DNA extractions, cDNA synthesis, and tissue culture. As an additional project, I also assisted with measuring poplar sapling height and diameter, and leaf absorption, transmission, and reflectivity.
