      Activities and Societies: BGSA active member (Biology Graduate Student Association). ETRG (Evolutionary Theory Reading Group) - member. I'm actually in the process of getting a PhD in the Biology Department, at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, USA.My main focus is the actions of species and their effects on the environment (also called ecosystem engineers or niche constructors). The perfect organism to look at this set of problematic, at least the one I chose, is crayfish. The perfect organism to look at this set of problematic, at least the one I chose, is crayfish. These tiny guys (some can be almost as big as some humans though, look it up --> Astacopsis gouldi!!) never stop amazed me: ecological engineers, key stone species, bioturbators, central part of the freshwater streams food chain, great laboratory organisms, and some of them live in caves and have regressed sight and enhanced chemical detection!
