  Class of 2024 Hall of Fame Inductee 2012 Samford University Baseball Team Samford University Athletic Department May 2024 The 2012 Samford baseball team set a school record for wins with 41, won the program’s first Southern Conference Tournament championship and earned Samford’s first NCAA Baseball Tournament bid. During the regular season, the team defeated third-ranked Florida, 12-7, which is the highest-ranked team to fall to Samford in program history. In the SoCon Tournament, the Bulldogs earned a dramatic, 9-6, 10-inning win over Georgia Southern to win the title. The team was sent to Tallahassee, Fla., as a… Show more The 2012 Samford baseball team set a school record for wins with 41, won the program’s first Southern Conference Tournament championship and earned Samford’s first NCAA Baseball Tournament bid. During the regular season, the team defeated third-ranked Florida, 12-7, which is the highest-ranked team to fall to Samford in program history. In the SoCon Tournament, the Bulldogs earned a dramatic, 9-6, 10-inning win over Georgia Southern to win the title. The team was sent to Tallahassee, Fla., as a No. 3 seed for its NCAA Regional, where the Bulldogs took down SEC Tournament champion and 17th-ranked Mississippi State, 5-0. After a loss to host and third-ranked Florida State, Samford eliminated Mississippi State, 3-2, to reach the finals of the Regional.   Class of 2023 Hall of Fame Inductee - 2005 Samford University Women's Soccer Team Samford University Mar 2023 The 2005 Samford women's soccer team was the first Bulldog women's team to reach the NCAA Tournament. The team finished the season with a record of 15-4-4 overall and 7-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference, winning a third-straight OVC regular-season title. The Bulldogs then won their first OVC Tournament championship with a 1-0 win at Eastern Illinois in the championship contest. The win earned Samford the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.   Class of 2022 Hall of Fame Inductee 1984 Samford Football Team Samford University Athletic Department May 2022 The 1984 football team restarted the Bulldog football program after the school went a decade without the sport. Despite not practicing as a team until August to prepare for a September start to the season, the Bulldogs, lead by head coach Kim Alsop and his staff, represented the university well throughout the season. The players and coaches battled and fought in every game that year. The team wrapped up the season with a 38 - 33 win at home against Sewanee (The University of the South). Samford University will always owe a debt of gratitude for the hard work these men put in to start a program from scratch. The team also won the TAAC’s regular-season crown, winning a school-record 24 games, and finishing with a 24-6 record. In the TAAC Tournament, the Bulldogs earned wins over Campbell (67-51) and Centenary (62-54) to advance to the title game where Samford defeated Central Florida, 89-61. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament where it fell to #3-seeded St. John's. Marc Salyers and Reed Rawlings went on to play professional basketball after finishing their Samford careers.
