      Graduate Research Fellow

      • Examined evolution of St. Jones River estuary through middle to late Holocene. Research utilized integration of coring, chirp sub-bottom profiling, carbon dating (AMS and extended counting), trace halophyte identification, stratigraphic correlation. Research highlighted impact of human alterations on surrounding landscape upon destabilizing wetland evolution over past 250 years.

The focus of Rising Tides Restoration is to help reinstate resiliency for human and natural ecosystems in the face of a changing environment. We do this by re-building with the environment, not in-spite of it, with a main focus of restoring through the beneficial reuse of materials and sediments. We have a focus for beach, tidal wetland, and impoundment restoration with the development of sustainable habitats. We view our company mission as one in which we are filling the need for alternative and innovative restoration design and consulting, while keeping an eye on the future of our changing environment. Our services include but are not limited to: restoration planning and design, project consultation, construction management, GIS mapping, ecological data collection and assessment. We develop research initiatives to help assess and manage threatened or endangered species (i.e. sea turtles, migratory shorebirds, horseshoe crabs, etc.) Current projects include: beach and wetland restoration along the New Jersey bay coast for shorebird and horseshoe crab habitat, and project review for beneficial reuse of Wetland restoration in southern New Jersey.Projects in Development: population assessment of sea turtles in the Delaware estuary including the role of feeding behavior and ship interaction in mortality rates along the Delaware Coast.
