Activities and Societies: Arabic language study, Multiculturalism and Human Rights, Independent Study Project, Cross Cultural Exchange, Independent Travel The second semester of my junior year I studied abroad in Morocco for four months to learn about multiculturalism and human rights in the context of the Arab Spring. Here I was immersed in this beautiful culture and found that it was an environment in which I thrived. I committed myself to learning the language, studying multiple hours a day and applying it to my every interaction. I lived with both urban and rural home-stay families in order to maximize exposure to the different parts of Moroccan culture. I also conducted an Independent Research Project where analyzed the affects of the hijab on social interactions in an Islamic state. I combined my research into a comprehensive report and presented my findings to my host institution's Human Rights department. It was an experience of a lifetime and inspired my absolute desire for travel. Show less
