  This was a two week placement, providing me with an insight into the working of a Law Firm. I shadowed a mentor, witnessing various client meetings whilst also developing an understanding as to the detailed work that goes into each case.

  2018 Work Experience Placement

  On my second placement and Byrne and Partners, again for two weeks, I was exposed to my first court hearing. Shadowing a team of solicitors and I observed various court cases, at both Crown and Magistrates courts. This placement provided me with a different experience of the legal process, as I not only saw the end result, but also the detailed and meticulous work that goes into every case.

  Assistant Football Coach

  I worked as an assistant coach at a Youth football group. My main responsibilities were the organising of equipment, helping to ensure the children maintained entertained and engaged, providing coaching tips where appropriate, and delivering sessions to smaller groups of children.

  2019 Work Experience Placement

  In my third placement at Byrne and Partners (also two weeks), I was given more involved tasks; for example, researching information on clients and reviewing court documents. I once again witnessed firsthand the attitudes and characteristics of professional, and successful, solicitors. Such experience providing valuable insight into what exactly it will take to successfully pursue a legal career.

  I worked at the Blue Crown Brentwood during my final year of the IBDP. I was working every Friday evening alongside my IB studies, ultimately I made the decision to leave the role in March to focus more time on revision for my upcoming exams in May.

  Commerical Law Intern

  During this period, I completed a Commercial Law Internship Programme. We listened to speakers from firms, including Slaughter & May and Clyde & Co, discussing several sectors of commercial law and providing advice on key skills requirements for becoming a junior-level Commercial Lawyer. I also completed a work sample, conducting legal research and delivering a presentation to a peer via the 1:1 networking opportunities.

  I joined this fraud specialist legal firm with emphasis on business crime and regulatory services. Working in the Criminal Defence team as a fee earner, I strengthened my knowledge of complex and demanding litigation, focussing on evidential review across a highly convoluted case, funded by Legal Aid. I reviewed and summarised approximately 84k pieces of evidence, creating bundles, raising discrepancies/questions, and attending meetings, both with and without counsel, taking verbatim notes and creating transcripts.
