I learned a lot about snake venom, its effects, and various treatments while working on this project. The goal was to identify the signaling system via which the venom acts to cause local tissue damage like hemorrhage and cytotoxicity like inflammation. LPS (lipopolysaccharide) generated macrophage lysates, which were then treated with inhibitors such as unconjugated bilirubin and bilirubin derivative 1. Throughout this course, I've also learned about the genetics of dermatoglyphic patterns and the relevance of the ATD angle.I took on another study, "Assessment of the microbiological quality and safety of some retail spices sold in Bangalore, Karnataka," out of personal interest. As the assignment involves the isolation, culture, characterization, and storage of microorganisms, I learned more about microbiology during this course. Serial dilution, agar slant preparation, streaking (to isolate pure colonies), and staining procedures such as gram staining, endospore staining, and fungal staining are among the techniques covered.
