Responsibilities included managing counter sales, inbound and outbound deliveries, and compliance to OHSA, DOT, and import and export regulations.In addition to the supervisory role I was also responsible for supporting commercial contractors with solutions to their data communication needs.We successfully redesigned the warehouse floor plan that reduced pull errors while at the same time reducing the time required to fill orders. The additional capacity allowed us to pursue business outside of the metro area which eventually transformed the facility into a regional supplier.   The first goal as the manager of manufacturing quality engineering was to bring out of control production yields to a controlled and sustainable state. A “block and tackle” strategy was implemented to improve responsiveness to short term counter measures that could help with containment while in parallel working actions that were aimed at more permanent resolution of the problem. This required reorganizing the roles and responsibilities of the quality engineers so that they were aligned by product group and incorporating performance goals and objectives in the professional development plans of the quality engineers so as to promote accountability.As the department manager I was the customer contact for customer issues. I worked directly with large OEM teams and provided them status on key improvement projects that were in process. I also set up interlock meetings with customers, suppliers and my engineering team to monitor progress on supplier related improvement projects and in some cases to review supplier production yields for problem identification and corrective action.
