      Manager, Internal Appraisals

The primary role of the Risk Division is to manage credit, operational, market and Anti Money Laundering risks within the Rabobank Group. The Asset Quality Management Australia department (AQM Australia) is a separate operating unit of Risk that has been established due to changes in the regulatory environment, requiring a separation of the property appraisal and collateral inspection function from the credit approval function. As an activity, appraisals and collateral inspections fulfil an important function in establishing the existence, quality and value of the collateral (land, inventory and debtors) provided to the Bank as security for loan facilities made available to the client. The AQM Australia team is tasked with reporting back to the Front Office (first line of defence) and Credit Division (second line of defence) an independent view of the value of the Bank’s collateral and, in the case of collateral inspection, management ability, reporting and monitoring systems and physical storage locations. In addition to the operational appraisals and inspections, the department is responsible for managing the quality of the asset base with, amongst others, benchmarking, reporting and stress testing.Valuation and Collateral inspection activities operate across all lending divisions of the Bank (Country Banking and Wholesale) and independently of both the Credit and Front Office divisions. Within the AQM Australia department, the Internal Appraisal unit determines the market values of properties held as security. In addition, it provides other entities within the bank (including the Chief Risk Officer and the Executive Team) with portfolio information (such as quarterly dashboards) and scenario analyses, if and when requested.
