On December 7th 2017, the UAE implemented one of the largest and complex airspace changes the region has ever seen. The UAE Airspace Restructuring Project (UAE ARP) saw the Emirates Flight Information Region (FIR) transform into the world’s first airspace structure completely based on Performance Based Navigation (PBN) with a Navigation Specification of RNAV-1 (GNSS). The results were generated through a culmination of years of extensive analysis and development across the UAE Aviation Community and have enabled the evolution of one of the World's most advanced Air Traffic Management Systems. To achieve such results required extensive collaboration through hundreds of thousands of working hours from the GCAA Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre, Dubai Air Navigation Services, Abu Dhabi Airports Company, Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation, Sharjah Department of Civil Aviation, Fujairah Department of Civil Aviation as well over 20 other international aviation stakeholders. The airspace change is designed to increase UAE Airspace capacity to meet the forecasted air traffic demand for 2020, as well as increase access to all UAE airports, improve efficiency for both aviation system customers and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) whilst also reducing the environmental impact of the ever increasing traffic through more effective Air Traffic Management operations.Coupled within the UAE ARP is also the generation of an Integrated Airspace Master Plan (IAMP) which ensures appropriate and timely delivery of airspace capacity and capability requirements within the Emirates FIR until 2040. Show less In one of the world's fastest growing regions in aviation and with forecasts indicating a 100% increase in traffic over the next 15 years, the airspace of the UAE and surrounding nations have a challenging and exciting time ahead. The role of Senior Airspace Coordinator is responsible for airspace changes, procedure changes and all other aspects for ensuring that the UAE FIR is capable of providing a safe, sustainable and efficient service to all stakeholders both now and in the future by embracing a collaborative approach to future concepts and modern technology through a world class organisation.
