I assisted the Learning Center at WV Wesleyan by serving as resource for fellow students with learning differences. I was trained to use various technologies, such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, to help students gain the most from their educational experience. I also assisted the staff of the Learning Center by completing clerical duties. I volunteered as a Poetry Editor for WV Wesleyan's annual literary and arts magazine, The Vandalia. I served in the Spring of 2010 and 2011. As a Poetry Editor, I worked with the editorial team to read through and select poetry to be published in the magazine. As a freshman seminar leader, I helped to lead a small class of freshmen through their first semester of college. I attended and escorted the class to campus events, served as a liaison for the students, and helped them become better acclimated to college life. The class of students were assigned to a Southern Literature class through the English Department. I helped the professor in class by collecting quizzes, homework, presenting parts of lessons, and participating in classroom discussions.

      Career Pathways Adult Education Instructor

I taught Adult Basic Education and GED classes in the Northside of Pittsburgh. I provided Career Awareness instruction to students as well as some Case Management. I also worked with Goodwill's Marketing team to present information about the Education Department to members of the community. The presentations gave me an opportunity to create a gift for the community members. One year, it was a collection of student essays and the next year it was a collection of puzzles full of facts about the new GED exam. I assisted in planning bi-annual graduation ceremonies for the Education Department. I also served as the Education Department's Social Coordinator and planned department activities. In addition, I was also given the opportunity to collaborate with the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work to host a poetry and writing workshop for residents of the Pleasant Valley Shelter in the Northside.
