  I conducted a study to the company's innovation management models and organizational systems and compared them with innovation management systems from literature and reference cases. During the research I participated in research groups with respect to innovation projects. After this analysis, I got the opportunity to present my ideas and recommendations to the company’s executives, in order to improve their innovation processes.

  As a graduate intern at the Port of Rotterdam Authority (PoRA) I researched the social valuation approach of several of their strategic tools. I did research into the theoretical principles of valuation and proposed an indicator for measuring social value. In addition, I designed a tool to classify and handle perception uncertainty about port projects over time. Towards the finalization of my research, I got the opportunity to write a conference paper about this topic. The final results and recommendations were presented to PoRA experts and my graduate committee of Delft University of Technology. Show less

  The main topic of research is 'integrated design'. In this context, the research is specifically related to the design of large-scale infrastructures, traditionally related to academic disciplines/faculties such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Technology, Policy and Management. The combination of the increasing density in human settlement and related activities, awareness about sustainability, and influence of the public opinion, put large-scale infrastructure projects under pressure. Stakeholder management is in this context marked as a proportional part of the project strategy for successful infrastructure implementation. However, typical solutions in combination with stakeholder management are frequently leading to value discussions of 'concessions', 'compromises' and 'compensation', which are not satisfying outcomes in my opinion.In some cases the solution space is subordinate to design, which means that boundaries can be (re)defined and design can play a bigger role in the creation of value through infrastructure.
