  Production planning within a demand response program - Case study of a sawmill wood finishing processIn the manufacturing industry, including the wood sector, reducing carbon footprint is becoming increasingly important. Reducing the electricity consumption is one way to help with this challenge. For this purpose, a decision support tool based on a multi-objective optimization model with unequal preferences was created for a typical sawmill in the context of a demand response (DR) program. This model aims to propose a production plan for the finishing unit while minimizing backorder costs so as to facilitate participation in DR programs. A rolling window technique was also adopted to approximate the uncertainty aspect regarding demand response occurrences. Show less
