      Worked under Ms Marini Arumugam to assist with her research regarding Malaysian jurisprudence on medical negligence, by compiling and analysing all Malaysian High Court & appellate court cases involving medical negligence from 2000 to 2019 to identify whether the Bolam/Bolitho tests and the common law approach to causation were applied correctly in each judgement. I made extensive use of online legal databases like LexisNexis and Westlaw during this project.

      Policy and Legal Research Officer

      Presently I work on identifying gaps, inadequacies, or inconsistencies in Malaysian laws and government policies which allow for the perpetration and perpetuation of corruption and poor governance. Some of my responsibilities include:- Writing reports and policy papers on various areas of legal reform, including ombudsman institutions, whistleblower protection, right to information, and the autonomy of domestic oversight bodies;- Writing press statements on important developments within the organisation's thematic focus areas;- Attending consultations, workshops, discussions etc. with various stakeholders (governmental, non-governmental, and international) on topics of legal reform and liaising with partner organisations on cross-cutting issues;- Spearheading C4 Center’s engagement with the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process and advocating for the understanding of corruption as a human rights issue.In 2024, I was also appointed by the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department to sit on two Working Groups: on the Establishing of the Malaysian Ombudsman and the review of the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952. I am also working with a CSO coalition on a CSO Model Right to Information Bill in conjunction with the government’s move to enact a Freedom of Information Act. Show less
