      Graduate Student Researcher

Title: Exploring metallo-curcumin nanoparticles as a treatment strategy for endometriosis• Synthesized metal-curcumin complexes (MCC) by conjugating curcumin, a plant-derived polyphenol, with 5 different trace metals, such as copper, zinc, iron, manganese and nickel followed by extensive spectroscopic characterization • Standardized protocol for MCC polymeric nanoparticle’s formulation by extensive optimization of several parameters followed by physical and chemical characterization including their fluorescence property• Carried out screening of MCC and nanoparticles in in vitro model comprising patient-derived cells by standardizing the protocol for isolation of cells from human tissues.• Investigated in-depth effect of MCC nanoparticles by evaluating their effect on cell viability, morphology, migration, invasion, oxidative stress and inflammation • Established cell culture lab in new space and trained junior lab members on biosafety protocols• Mentored 1 postgraduate and 2 undergraduate students for projects.• Assisted mentor in grant writing and peer-review leading to development of critical thinking skills• Initiated collaboration leading to 4 scientific publications and 2 in progress• Communicated research findings to clinicians and academicians in conferences and won 2 awards• Independently managed project from study design, data acquisition to data analysis• Managed laboratory functions including purchase of reagents and instruments, training lab assistant and assisting team members with their experiments Show less
