    • Veolia North America

      Jun 2010 - now
Director - Asset Management (Above Ground Assets)

The Winnipeg Sewage Treatment Program is a thirty year partnership between the City of Winnipeg and Veolia to improve operation and maintenance of the City’s three wastewater treatment plants and deliver $700m of major capital improvements. As a member of the Program Management Team I lead initiatives for finding, justifying and implementing improvements to all aspects of operations and maintenance and asset management. The role requires building a high degree of trust at all levels of the Clients organisation from front line operations and maintenance to senior management. Strong networking, facilitating and influencing skills are required in order to diagnose problems, find innovative solutions from within a network of technical specialist, demonstrate the benefits and eventually implement through resources often controlled by others. I established and gained agreement of a baseline target cost for operations and maintenance which is a central part of Veolia’s involvement. I am responsible for tracking actual operations and maintenance performance against the target cost, advising the City on how to improve performance through the year and agreeing the out turn position at the end of the year against the target.I have developed an asset management plan for the wastewater treatment facilities and created a process for the City to manage asset refurbishment and replacement within the context of the plan. For the capital program I supervised conceptual design of a $200m wastewater treatment plant refurbishment to meet new license requirements which included agreeing the selection of the preferred treatment solution. I managed the creation of phase I of a biosolids management plan for the City and continue to provide guidance on to the City on long term strategy for biosolids. I was directly responsible for delivering a biosolids market assessment as part of the master plan. Show less
