      This position was site based in an electronics workshop, repairing to component level various modules in fuel dispensing equipment. This involved fibre optics, transistor logic and the building of test rigs to simulate the outside world. I also did 6 months field service duties in Bristol for Pump Maintenance.

       My principle customer is the Royal Mail, which requires SC clearance in the Data Centre. The primary role is engineering. The site has several thousand Compaq servers from Proliant 4500’s to DL760 G2’s, HP9000’s from E45’s to RP8400’s and IBM P series, H70, SP Nodes and two Z900 CMOS boxes. Secondary, I am responsible for the organising of the onsite engineers, and off site engineer support throughout the UK. My other duties include chasing call control and suppliers to maintain our 100% in SLA fix and 100% first time fix record this is an interesting part of the role, also I attend review meetings, preparing report packs and general administration of site and stores, and the secure out of hours duty manager, I was the escalation point for the whole company across all secure accounts, I could be simply securing parts and engineer, to dealing with an unhappy customer, and making the on the spot decisions on behalf of the business. I have received IBM RS6000, IBM CMOS, HP9000 (D, K, L, N, RP8400), Sun, Dell, Storage Tek and Compaq/HP APS training. Show less
