Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.The IVLP Global Health Fellowship 2023 focused on these key objectives;1. Understand federal public health and infectious disease policy and programs and the role of research and best practices to treat infectious diseases; 2. Explore public-private partnerships and collaboration in the medical field to combat infectious diseases, including media campaigns for public awareness; 3. Examine the role of NGOs in preventing and treating infectious diseases; and 4. Explore the role of community-based clinics and outreach health centers’ preparations for responding to outbreaks of disease and view the measures in place to control infectious diseases in hospitals.The 2023 IVLP Global Health Fellowship saw participants visit at least 7 different states meeting with health leaders and institutions while sharing learning and experiences.Each year nearly 5,000 exchange participants come to the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.There is no application for IVLP.
