During my time as an Engineer onboard my duties where to operate main and auxiliary machinery from local and remote positions. Carry out watchkeeping duties at sea and in harbour. Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance (planned/routine) and defect rectification as a team or individual. Comply with all safety precautions and procedures, with use of test equipment, technical publications/drawings and tools. Also carry out ships firefighting duties and whole ship routines and evolutions. During the ships maintenance period I carried out the overhaul of steering systems, stabiliser systems, medium and low pressure air systems, liaising with contractors and ships staff to get my part of the project completed on time. After completion of the maintenance period and successful trials, the ship deployed to the Far East. During my time on HMS Ocean I was also deployed to Norway, the Caribbean and Africa for periods of 1- 6 months. Also completing a successful secondment with the Royal Marines to offer my mechanical skill and knowledge to inspect, service and maintain all vehicles/plant machinery and marine craft in their fleet. Carrying out all planned and routine maintenance alongside defect rectification, to keep the fleet operational. Throughout all roles I provided technical advice, support and training to senior and junior personnel when needed/asked. As a senior engineer I supervised junior and trainee engineers as required.       Working alongside a small service team, I was responsible for maintenance, upgrades and repairs of equipment to a number of clientele worldwide. During my time I worked offshore repairing and upgrading pipe handling cranes alongside electrical team. Working on projects in Egypt/Canary Islands for major overhauls of TSC equipment, including BOP Cranes, BOP mechanical handling systems and CTU systems onboard. Completing pre-project surveys, then following though to completing projects, where I supervised and helped with the major overhaul of BOP handling systems, pipe handling systems and riser gantry crane/associated systems. Working alongside rig crews to successfully complete heavy lifts of cranes from rig to quayside workshops. Compiling with all safety precautions and procedures, with use of test equipment, technical publications/drawings and tools. Assisting in UK workshop to mechanically and hydraulically outfitted TSC’s equipment (riser systems and winches). Once completed, carrying out function and load testing using a range of methods before equipment was sent to the client. Working on 22”/14"Poslock operators to complete field overhauls, which include full stripdown, inspection, fitting of all wear components(seals/bushings etc.), reassembly and function test/setup. Completing upgrade projects consisting of installation and commissioning of an EHBS systems, ROV systems and various stack related components.Supervising major overhaul of riser and telescopic joints, which included stripdown, inspect, repair, test/pressure test and reassembly.Working to API regulation and specification, to complete work in a timely and effective manner above and beyond satisfaction of supervisors and clientele.Completion of detailed service and damage reports along with all other relevant paperwork before, during and after jobs.
