During state-wide travel, I provided nursing coverage during times of critical staffing shortages as well as training of new employees.   Nursing Supervisor

  IWISH (Integrated Wellness in Senior Housing) Grant funded program working as a wellness nurse then advancing to nurse supervisor. Held part time wellness position serving seniors in independent living complex while supervising five nurses at individual complexes throughout Michigan. This was a two year grant project which extended beyond expected term. I left this position three years into the role to maintain work/life balance as I continued my employment with Hospice of Michigan to care for the terminally ill.My role as wellness nurse involved learning the program and expectations and incorporating these into an independent living community where they previously had no such support. The goal was to educate individual on their chronic conditions, assess and collaborate with medical teams, provide educational classes and develop programs to meet needs of the seniors. This program was successful in decreasing ER and hospital visits, improving the quality of life for seniors and helping them to remain independent in their home longer than expected and/or throughout end of life. This program was a success and is still continuing as a grant funded study. Show less
