  Joined IBM as a research intern in 1979. Hired by IBM in 1981 in Advanced Display Technology Group as a Human Factors Engineer. Research focussed around keyboard design, touch screen displays, high resolution monitors and speech synthesis. Worked in IBM Laboratory in Boca Raton, FL with Independent Software Support programs. Developed an interest in multimedia marketing and was assigned to VP Marketing, PC Division.

  In 1992 IBM began its transformation from a Product-centric company to a Services-based company. As part of this IBM formed a new division called Professional & Technical Services. People in the company were invited to bring forward business proposals for services IBM could offer to clients. Based on my experiences in IBM product marketing, I brought forward a proposal to form a business around developing computer based Multimedia applications for clients for communication, training and marketing. I formed a team of programmers, graphic designers and project managers and successfully launched the new business in March 1992. We signed our first client at the IBM Show held at Birmingham, UK. And thus began IBM's first digital agency in Europe. Show less

  Worked with Client to develop the Vision for Store Portal - as the strategic platform for delivering business applications to all Store Employees. Defined how Point of Sale Terminals (tills) could be used as a "just in time" information delivery channel, along with mobile devices, and back office PC's. Developed a role-based personalisation model where different applications, content and communities are delivered to different user segments.
