The research explored how the local government… Show more Research Project:The Achievement of Social Justice Concept in the Displacement of Kampung Pulo Settlement, Jakarta Province.The dissertation examined the achievement of social justice concept in the displacement programme done by the local government of Jakarta to the informal housing on the riverbanks in Jakarta. The social justice was explained through three major concepts, which are recognition, participation, and redistribution. The research explored how the local government misrecognizes the land ownership of the community. Furthermore, the lack of participation space in the decision-making process makes it difficult for the community to express their interest regarding their settlement. Lastly, the distribution of houses in the subsidized apartment does not solve the housing problem, as the community are still face the displacement threat when they cannot pay the rent. Show less

PNPM Mandiri Perkotaan used community-level participation and empowerment as an approach to poverty reduction; this research project identified the differences between urban and rural responses to the PNPM Mandiri Perkotaan in order to improve overall participation rates in poverty reduction programming. From this research, it was found that there is more community involvement in the rural area than in urban area. The social condition, including neighbourhood relationship, people mobility, and heterogeneity affect the difference manifestation of participation in both areas. Show less
