      This nutrition surveys provide estimate of the most affected or at risk population; identify the need for nutrition interventions and to take effective measures to prevent or minimize the problem; explore the reasons of under nutrition.The Objectives were to assess the population nutritional status; especially of women and children; to collect data on height, weight and age of children, 6 – 59 months, mothers of these children, adolescent girls, adults and elderly; to collect blood samples for the assessment of micronutrient status of children mainly iron Vitamin A, Zinc, Vitamin D, calcium, and iron status of mothers; to collect urine samples for the assessment of iodine status of children; to assess infant and young child feeding and care practices, including exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding rate; to collect data on food intake and food security; to collect data on socio economic and cultural variables (Income, education, etc) Task Performed:Monitored field activities through check list developed by UNICEF, assessed the performance (skills and knowledge) of trained field staff at village and town levels, who gathered information on important clinical, bio-chemical indicators, anthropometric measurement from the randomly selected respondents across the country.Developed feedback monitoring visit report and shared it with nutrition wing, ministry of health; pediatric and child health department, Aga Khan University; UNICEF and Department of Health respectively.Initiated, coordinated and arranged meetings of officers ministry of respondents to participate in the survey, whenever find gaps in the standard protocol, rectifying at the spots, coordinate with technical committee members comprises of experts from DFID, WB,UNICEF,MOH and WHO giving regular feedback.
