Activities and Societies: Psychotic symptoms in PD are relatively common causing disturbance in patients' daily lives, it has consistently been shown to be associated with poor prognosis. Our understanding of the pathophysiology of psychosis in PD has expanded dramatically over the past years, from an initial interpretation of symptoms as dopaminergic drug adverse effects to the current view of a complex interplay of extrinsic and disease-related factors. Our intention is to apply CBT as a treatment for psychosis. The Fellows Program, an initiative of GFDD and FUNGLODE, is pleased to announce the fellowship of our most recent scholar, Henry Montero Tapia, Ph.D candidate in psychology at Capella University. Henry’s research will examine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy evidence-based treatment for symptoms related to Parkinson’s disease psychosis.

      Community Outreach Manager

As an Outreach Manager I designed a statewide recruitment program FUTURE CPA to promote accounting as a profession in high schools and colleges for student in New York State. This program included all private and public high schools and colleges; the outreach was done for student and professor. I included a monthly Certified Public Accounting (CPA) Journal where I collaborated and a bi-yearly CPA magazine that I assisted in publishing. As part of recruitment I would present on the benefits of becoming a CPA and also have accounting professional speak on their success in the field. My goals were to reach 500 schools by mail and 150 presentations yearly. I also directed the Career Opportunity in Accounting Profession (COAP) a five day educational treasure summer program that is held at several college campuses across New York State. The program is an important component of the New York State Society of CPAs' efforts to recruit young people into the CPA profession. Founded in 1987, COAP recruits high school juniors from public and private schools in New York. Recruitment for COAP is focused on minority groups historically underrepresented in the CPA profession.
