      Responsible for setting up and running the company’s wide area network based on x.25 technology. Specialized knowledge in the Novell Netware operating system and the Btrieve Database. Programming of various systems for managing the network, such as user menus and a graphical interface to monitor the x.25 links from Iceland Telecom. Also provided general server and desktop support.

      Responsible for chosing, designing and building all information systems from the founding of the company in 1998. This included a back-office of Windows NT, Navision Finance systems along with web services and specialized messaging services interacting with government systems. Responsible for designing and implementing an Oracle Database on Sun Solaris platform. The database stored all information about the registration and inspection of vehicles in Iceland. Participated in the designing and implementation of the Schengen Database in Iceland, as far as databases and network connections. Responsible for the operation of all central information systems for the regional and national police departments, two employees along with subcontractors attended to this task under my management. Liaised with the Canadian Bank Note Company regarding the implementation and operation of the National Passport issuing system for Bureau of Foreigners. Show less

      A vital member in creating the strategy of the company, designing the infrastructure and creating products and SLA’s. Two systems engineers along with subcontractors from the mother company worked under my management. An example of these services are conventional file and print services and mail services in a Microsoft Windows 2000 environment. Web and DNS hosting on Linux platform and Metaframe solutions for customers remote access to their data. In addition to this an extensive networking infrastructure was built, with customers connecting via Frame-Relay, ATM, xDSL and IP. An emphasis was put on global VPN access for the customer. Hysing was a startup company owned by Islandssimi and EJS. After roughly a year, the shareholders decided to stop working together and the hosting buisness was moved to EJS and merged with their technical services division. Show less

The team deployed three Cisco Call Managers and roughly 2600 telephones in every office of Landspitalinn citywide. The project took almost a year in implementation and testing. Lina.Nets technicians worked under my management along with numerous foreign and domestic subcontractors. Responsible for the daily operation of Lina.Nets Metropolitan Area Network and coordinating the work of subcontractors. In addition to this I designed and built a network monitoring solution using open source software, developing the modules needed for a comprehensive solution. Show less

      Responsible for the operation of all computer systems for Air Atlanta and it’s group of companies. The operation of Atlanta’s IT systems was distributed between the departments at Air Atlanta. I combined this operation under Air Atlanta’s IT Department with 8 employees. In iceland there were 5 employees and 3 employees in the UK, onsite with larger daughter companies. Facilitated a strategic cooperation with IBM/Nyherji as a partner in building a scalable computer infrastructure. Established a strategic relationship with Microsoft regarding a licensing scheme for Air Atlanta and the group of companies. Significantly lowered communications cost by exchanging expensive leased lines with a VPN infrastructure over the internet and using IP Telephony in Germany, Britain, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia to lower long distance charges.
