Briefly describing my first years after finishing Medical School. My first internship was in internal medicine, mainly cardiology and primary care, in the outskirts of Denmark. I developed basic clinical skills and knowledge in internal medicine. Moving on to work as a junior resident at the National Hospital´s Department of Surgery. Here, I learned basic skills in complex surgery, admitted patients, and doing rounds on the wards. I presented scientific data at several department meetings and taught medical students. After this, I worked as a locum and did the first part of Family Medicine residency in the Faroe Islands. This position demanded substantial ability to work independently and good decision-making skills. I then moved back to Denmark to work for six months in anesthesiology and intensive care, before continuing work in surgery. Enhancing my skill of staying calm in stressful situations and managing multiple tasks at a time in an extremely fast-paced environment.During my first year working as a surgeon in training, I gained substantial knowledge and skills in abdominal surgery and trauma management. I assisted in the most complex surgeries, e.g., liver transplants. Being the National Hospital, this was a highly scientific environment, and I enhanced my ability to analyze data and present it clearly and concisely. Show less
