  Having being awarded the J.C. Bamford prize for business at school whilst completing my A-Levels, I took up a position as part of an awarded scholarship to work for the company during my gap year as a business scholar.The role involved establishing an understanding of the Cecily Mills business unit and looking to provide business support to all necessary departments. Given the timing of the placement as the financial crisis was beginning, it provided an excellent opportunity to see contingency management by senior employees and also witnessed a workers ballot on payment and employment hours.   I worked in the Bank's Depositary Receipts department providing sales support to senior sales staff. This included providing research on prospective clients and the preparation of marketing materials for their activities.The position also required weekly presentations to senior management surrounding current financial stories and allowed him to work in an international team of four interns each from a different country.
