  Duties entail administration and operation of a rural public library that serves a community of 353, and a rural population of approx that size again. I am in charge of keeping the technology updated in our 5 patron computers and 2 work station computers. I also have been known to repair furniture when the need has arisen. I plan and implement programming for children, and try to encourage adults attendance with adult programming. I have one assistant that I supervise, and 5 Trustees and a City Council that I answer to. I am also responsible for maintaining any standards set by the State, and supplying information in an Annual Survey that correctly depicts the current state of the library. I manage geneaology and historical requests for information ranging from obituaries to pictures of headstones at the local cemetery. I am responsible for acquiring and maintaining a collection that suits the needs of the local community,a s well as making sure we have adhered to all of the standards that have put us in Accredited status with the State. Every 3 years I submit a report to the State to show these standards are met. One of the Standards is that I have a minimum of 45 continuing education hours every 3 years. I work well with others, I take constructive criticism well also. I have been an eager student my whole life, and never balk at learning new things. I am also self-taught with computers. Show less
