This project was designed and developed without any industry involvement. This project is completely autonomous system. It has got the capability of discriminating the type of vehicles crossing the tunnel on either sides. It will generate the priority for the vehicles to pass the narrow tunnel from both the sides of the tunnel. The tunnel has got wide entrance on both the sides but a narrow passage at the middle so one one three wheeler or a four wheeler can cross the middle portion of the tunnel from either sides. The tunnel has got a blind curves on either side hence vehicle riders can't notice the vehicles entering the tunnel from the other side. If the vehicles from both the side enters the middle portion of the tunnel at a time then it will lead to chaos. Hence, an intelligent robotic operation was developed for this application using the hardwares and softwares. This is the first project in India that is developed in VIT. This project works with a complete co-ordination between the sensing of vehicles at four different locations installed near the tunnel in the underground. This project was very much appreciated by all the leading news articles like Hindu, Times of India and Deccan Chronical and many local papers. Show less
