  Responsible for evaluating police reports and interviewing defendants. I acted as a prosecutor or defense attorney and served as a juror at times. I interviewed defendants, wrote opening and closing statements, and questioned the defendant in the courtroom. I adhered to the client confidentially.

  Advocacy Intern

  Covered the 24-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline and provided crisis intervention services as needed. Accompanied victims at the hospital to support them during the Forensic Rape Kit and at the police station to assist victims during interviews or as needed. Upheld the obligation of mandated reporting and engaged in outreach in primary schools. I also had the opportunity to attend Legislative Action Committee meetings.

  While working under Dr. W. Amory Carr I completed a 3-day certification through probation to administer and score the Level of Service Inventory (LSI), a structured interview risk assessment. Additionally, I was trained to administer the self-informed consent and self-report measures by the primary investigator. After observing several times I began leading the LSI and self-report measures under the supervision of the primary investigator. I was also taught how to score several self-report measures and discussed the interpretations with Dr. Carr. I am currently responsible for independently scheduling participants and administering a full battery of assessments at New Haven Probation. Show less I was awarded the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) to conduct my original research project with faculty supervision. I had the opportunity to collect data through structured interviews and self-report measures at New Haven Probation. I gained exposure to advanced correlational statistics and learned about the utility of psychometrics during my weekly meeting with my mentor. After collecting data I entered and analyzed it through SPSS and presented my preliminary findings to the SURF team in August. In the fall I presented my results to a panel of donors and completed an extended abstract. Show less
