  Officer, Air Navigator.

  My first careers revolved around service in the RAF and the Police Force. Some 'glamour jobs' before I decided to reach further, educationally, and pursue a degree.

  Jan 1992 - Oct 2005

  Retail Manager through to Vice President, South Pacific.

  Variety of area management roles in hospitality, oil, and supermarkets. This included living in Fiji for 2 years as a deputy General Manager, and being VP for an American company. A board room takeover closed several regional operations, including my own, and this led me to reappraise where I wanted to take my life. Teaching was my answer.

  Whole school leadership for professional growth, a team Leader of 8 teachers and 250 children, board member, and lead teacher for mathematics. Led several specific projects and administered several camps and extra-curricular activities.I also taught the extension (gifted and talented) class for year 8 studentsand had the highest effect size in the school for student achievement.

  Responsibility for curriculum, assessment and professional growth, in addition to normal deputy principal responsibilities.Along with the leadership team, helped increase student achievement by an average of 10% in reading, writing, and mathematics against National Standards in 2013, following an average of 8% in 2012. With change management as a primary responsibility, introduced Visible Learning processes to the school and increased the level of student expectations, feedback, student agency, and teaching practices, aligning school processes with the need for a student centred/teacher directed culture.
