      Apr 2016 - May 2018
      Food Service Worker

Working as a crew member for McDonald's. I worked quickly and efficiently both independently, and as part of a team. I maintained composure and efficiency during high pressure situations; sometimes the store makes over £1000 in one hour, which can be very challenging for staff. I helped deal with complaints, queries, and problems whilst working front-of-house, and was commended for my 'fast and friendly service'. I took on management roles, occasionally working as area leader for the kitchen. This involved delagating tasks, and ensuring efficient running of the kitchen. Before leaving, I was in line for a promotion to Crew Trainer. Show less

    • Young Gloucestershire

      Jul 2018 - Aug 2018
      NCS Delivery Worker

Working to deliver the National Citizen Service programme with Young Gloucestershire. I worked with a colleague as a team leader for a group of 20 15-17 year olds. The first 2 weeks involved team building activities. I worked with my partner, and leaders of other groups to push young people out of their comfort zone, and encourage the formation of a group dynamic. This required strong self-motivation, leadership, and enthusiasm. The second 2 weeks let the young people take the lead in planning events to raise money for charity. I had to help the team get through some difficult moments, and encourage them without taking control. The group were very sucessful, and raised over £1000 for Longfield Hospice. During this role, I took responsibility for problems, provided safeguarding, and supported young people through this challenging programme. Show less

      Public Engagement Events Assistant

Working with the public engagement team to organise FUTURES: European Researchers' Night. This is a event that takes place in over 300 cities, and is funded by the European Comission. I helped with the organisation of several events in Bristol that took place at the SS Great Britain, We the Curious, and Central Library. I took part in a 2-day workshop on 'Communicating Your Research Effectively', where I developed my own communication skills, and assisted researchers with how to communicate their research in an engaging way. I was also responsible for the recruitment of volunteers. Previous years only recruited 1 volunteer, but the methods I introduced increased this to 40 recruits, which is about the capacity we could have. The event was an amazing success, and I loved engaging with the public, and helping them learn about local research. In this job, I developed team-work, public engagement, communication, and time-management skills. Show less
