One of the things he noticed about the company is that there was no formal structured Veteran's Day Celebration for the Company. Action: John and a core team of people execute against the Veterans Day celebration every year. They execute the celebration every year with notables like George Bush, General Hal Moore, General Honore, and the Tuskegee Air Men to mention a few. They also recognize a customer and award them an appreciation award for their service to the military. As far as how the planning is conducted for this event...he starts in the January timeframe to redtag a keynote speaker. Because of the position the potential speaker may have or has had, trying to nail them down early and firm up a commitment early is key. Next he looks for potential entertainment. Once these two large aspects of the event are red tag, the rest is a matter of filling in the all of the logistical blanks and a series of brainstorming exercises I have with some of the key members of the planning team... Detailed planning starts in the June July timeframe where they hold monthly meetings that escalate into meetings every two weeks in the September timeframe and eventually weekly starting in October. These meetings are held to an hour and are driven by me via a detailed agenda. Originally John received $100K budget to make this event happen...it was cut to $80K about 3 years ago. his goal is to get the other $20K back for 2008 as he would like to have the Veterans Dinner in the NWOCC and showcase that facility. You got caught doing a great job, and you have received a Manager Tag. Situation/Task: The WWMCT has had problems tracking over 250 FS contracts due to the complexity and number along with lack of resources, we have been unable to keep the data base updated. Action: Sheryle is new to our department, she has worked to update the data base in addition, she has created a way to download the information from File Maker Pro to Excel and post it on the team's 'P' drive so all personnel can check the information and be able to respond better to customers questions.
