I was engaged in this role after restructure (and merger of 2 teams) to provide the link between the business and centrally driven policies, with a focus on budgets, governing standards and staff. I oversaw a successful merger to then manage a team of 7-8 (Analysts and Finance Assistants). I lead all aspects (policy and financial) of setting and implementing tariffs that customers pay for their banking activity each year, working with a variety of senior stakeholders. I oversee financial processing for the area (multi £mn activity), including account payable and receivable functions. I lead production of MI for Heads of Division and Executive Directors (e.g. HR related, customer orientated etc.) to aid strategic decision making. I am a subject matter expert (SME) and valued and trusted Advisor to Senior Management for certain activity. I prepare and present information to Governance Board to guide future decisions about certain matters. I advise my Chief Operating Officer on procurement, accommodation planning, budget and tariff activity.◼️ Identified and introduced new ways of presenting management information to provide deeper insight e.g. using Tableau.◼️ Led the area's accommodation planning work for >500 staff.◼️ Devised a cost allocation methodology to charge back cost of a strategic change programme to customers. ◼ Influenced (and implemented) the setting of policy to ensure staff worked safely and comfortably during the COVID-19 lockdown and produced MI to understand how much is spent on related costs.◼️ Ensured that the area continued to receive value for money from its suppliers during COVID-19 pandemic and identified any suppliers “in distress”. ◼️ Produced regular MI, with insightful analysis on staff wellbeing to be presented to Senior Management to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the area’s business model (from a staff perspective). Show less I was promoted to become SME for certain activity, advising Head of Division and Executive Director on the division’s ability to meet its medium-term self-financing objective. I managed, mentored and led 1 Analyst and 3 Financial Assistants. I produced monthly/quarterly MI and KPI reporting to help inform and influence operational activity.◼️ Developed framework by which customers are charged for their activity, and oversaw its annual refresh.◼️ Oversaw accounts receivable function for the area.◼️ Developed and implemented a cutting edge (for the area) supplier management framework e.g. knowing suppliers, service standards, value for money etc. Worked collaboratively with key stakeholders and suppliers (internal and external) to ensure that relationships were strengthened. This model was later adopted in other parts of the organisation. Show less I was engaged in this role after achievement of CIMA qualification. I acted as Assistant Budget Centre Manager and budget analyst for two departments, providing a role crucial in enabling the setting of multi £mn budget and leading on monitoring and reporting. I managed, mentored and led a team of 3-4 Financial Assistants. I co-ordinated the annual budget setting exercise, acting as main liaison point both within the department (working closely with the department's management team, HoDs and Executive Director) and outside the department, providing the main contact point for Finance division. Show less I was promoted to Finance’s Assistant Budget Centre Manager, responsible for preparing and monitoring the department’s own budget, including authorising invoices. I provided business partnering and monitored budgets of 3 departments , advising them on all budgetary matters. I led production of the quarterly report to Senior Management, comparing the organisation's current year’s budget with actual and forecast expenditure. I co-ordinated production of the annual Budget Book that summarised all the departments’ income and expenditure plans and business aims for 4 years. I checked the work of 2 staff who dealt with VAT matters, to sign off the organisation's VAT Return and other relevant forms, in lieu of the organisation's VAT Officer. Show less
