    • The Clorox Company

      Jun 1997 - Jan 2001
      Product/Process Development Scientist

I conducted bench-scale experiments, determined scale-up strategies, led plant qualifications, identified and communicated process risks, and developed start-up plans for home care products (e.g., SOS Sponges and Clorox Disinfecting Wipes). I defined critical control parameters, documented product and process specifications, and developed flow diagrams for home care products. I also designed and executed screening experiments to identify new Kingsford and Matchlight Charcoal formulas, developed an emissions testing facility, and certified new products with regulators. Finally, I dramatically improved the technologies around volatile organic compound emissions and product performance for Matchlight charcoal. Show less

      Jan 2001 - Dec 2002
      Product Development Scientist

I created raw material and final product specifications, produced prototypes, led plant trials, and initiated market research test for store-brand baby diapers in the Ultra and Supremes categories. I conducted process capability studies and improved diaper test methods. I also teamed with suppliers to qualify new raw materials for improved functionality and/or cost savings. Finally, I led the R&D effort on the White Cloud product improvements for 2002.

      Lead Clinician

I designed and facilitated community-based instruction to increase independence and self-determination and improve the quality of life for students with autism. I utilized the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to measure and evaluate the effects of curriculum on students' performance in relation to their objectives.

    • Clearview High School

      Nov 2008 - Jun 2009
      Mathematics Teacher

I taught Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2 in multiple grade level classrooms for at-risk adolescents. I also facilitated the Extended Day Program for students pursuing independent study.

    • Port Angeles High School

      Aug 2010 - Jun 2015
      Science and Mathematics Teacher

During my time at PAHS, I taught Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Geometry. I piloted both the Honors Chemistry and AP Chemistry courses at our school (the latter pilot class attained a 100% pass rate and a median score of 4.5 on the AP Exam), and I redesigned the Chemistry course to align with the University of Washington in the High School program. I also managed the cleanup and disposal of all of our hazardous chemicals and maintained the chemical stockroom to comply with EPA regulations. Finally, I served on the Science Review Committee to ensure K-12 vertical alignment and integrate the Next Generation Science Standards. Show less
