      The position required that I assist Dr. David Schultz and his graduate assistants in conducting their research. My main duties included collecting data by using the Schultz Test of Emotion Processing with experiment participants. I also observed and video recorded graduate assistant interventions within the population of interest. Moreover, I participated in monthly meetings where current research was discussed between Dr. Schultz (PI), the lab's graduate assistants, and the undergraduate research assistants. Show less

      During my time as an Assistant Coordinator within the Housing & Residence Life Department at Towson University, I supervised a staff of 24 paraprofessional students. In addition to these students, I advised a volunteer council of students who organized and planned events for residents of the building. Part of my responsibilities within this position was ensuring the safety and security of the almost 500 students within Residence Tower. I also participated within departmental committees that worked on qualitative research of departmental educational programs and the development of entry level student staff positions. My main duties included analyzing qualitative data used to assess the department's educational outcomes.       Through my work as a graduate level counseling intern, I provided psychotherapy services to uninsured low income clients who presented mainly with Axis I disorders of Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Posttraumatic -Stress Disorder. While I practiced therapy from a generalist perspective, my main theoretical foundations are based within Cognitive Behavioral and Person-Centered Theory. In addition to therapy, I helped coordinate community and local government resources to be used for the benefit of the client.       I worked to improve the quality of life of individuals who had been diagnosed with one or more severe psychiatric disorders as described in the DSM V. Their presentations ranged from clinical depression to schizophrenia. To achieve this end, I assisted clients with their personal psychiatric rehabilitation goals.These goals included, but are not limited to, physical fitness, mental health, financial management, social skills, conflict management, and improved communication. In support of this process, I coordinated services between the clients, mental health professionals, primary care providers, and entitlements programs. As the Senior Care Specialist for the Outreach Program, I worked with my colleagues to ensure that they had all the necessary tools to succeed within their position. To this end, I assisted with the training of new employees, provided information and guidance on client concerns, and helped with the acquisition of needed materials.
